Andreu Domènech is a catalan saxophonist and composer focused on the baritone saxophone.
He started playing the saxophone at an early age in the school at Martorell (Barcelona). He developed his clasical studies in the Conseravatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona with Miquel Bofill. One year after graduating he started developing an interest for modern and Jazz music. He studied the Bachelor in Jazz Saxophone at Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, where he taked lessons from Gorka Benítez, Jon Robles, Víctor de Diego, David Mengual, Ramón Prats, Giulia Valle, Llibert Fortuny, Horacio Fumero and Mayte Alguacil, and others. He is part of the Big Band del Liceu during 2 years under the direction of Sergi Vergés. Two years before finishing his bachelor he moves into the baritone saxophone, wich becomes his main instrument and voice. He started different projects as Andreu Domènech 4tet and Drop Collective. Nowadays he is part of The Django Orquestra and The Amy's Soul. He played with formations like The Gramophone Allstars Big Band, The Excitements and the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra. From september 2019 until july 2020 he lived in Graz (Austria), where he keeps developing as a musician. On february 2020 he publishes his first album as a lider, Hirundo rustica. Original compositions accopanied with poetry and photos. Now he lives in El Bruc (Barcelona). |
