Andreu Domènech is a Catalan saxophonist and composer focused on the baritone saxophone.
He started different projects as Andreu Domènech 4tet and Drop Collective. Nowadays, he is also part of The Django Orchestra. He played with bands such as "The Gramophone All stars Big Band", "The Excitements" and the "Barcelona Jazz Orchestra". He performed several times at the musical "Billy Elliot" in Barcelona, playing also flute and clarinet.
From September 2019 until July 2020 he lived in Graz (Austria), where he keeps developing as a musician.
On February 2020 he publishes his first album as a leader, Hirundo rustica. Original compositions accompanied by poetry and photos.
On September 2020 he became coordinator and manager of Drop Collective. On November 2021 the collective released its second album, "Come Shine" (Brixton Records) where he contributes with several compositions and arrangements.
In 2022, he publishes three new singles with Andreu Domènech 4tet, "Olea", "Heavy Tools" and "Coffea Waltz" and coordinates the recording and distribution of a new single with Drop Collective, "Lágrimas Negras" (Brixton Records) and a new EP: "Drop Collective meets Chalart 58: In dub" (Brixton Records).
In October 2022, "Up & Jazz" premieres, a theatrical Jazz concert produced and directed by Trílope, where he performs as an actor and plays saxophones, clarinets and flute.
In November 2023, he was awarded the City of Igualada Prize for composition, for "La Suite del Fénix".
At the beginning of 2024, publishes "Duets de fusta". An album with 12 original duets, for woodwind instruments (clarinets, saxophones and flute).
At the same year, "Inside" (Brixton Records, 2024), the 3rd album of Drop Collective, is published. In which we can also find several of his compositions and arrangements: "Com estimo jo", "Ombra", "Estel", "Life's too short", "Sinnerman"...
Now he lives in Barcelona and "la Garrotxa", where he keeps producing music and teaching.
